Wire-Wrapped Cowrie Shell Ring

A real cowrie shell held crosswise on a hand coiled wire band.

The shell sits across the finger rather than along it, so it reads wide and low instead of tall. It is held by two wire arms that hook over the pointed tips at each end of the shell, with a tight coil of wire binding the band at each shoulder. There is no bezel and no metal cup under the shell, so light passes underneath it. Every ring is wrapped by hand, which is why the two coils never sit quite identically.

ABOUT THE SHELL
The shell is a real shell, not resin and not a moulded copy. Surface pattern, cream tone and the fine teeth along the aperture come out a little different on every piece. Yours will not be an exact copy of the photos, which is rather the point of wearing a real one.

WEARING IT
Worn on the hand it stays low and wide, so it does not catch the way a raised stone does. It reads the same with a linen shirt at dinner as it does with a wetsuit peeled to the waist. It suits surfers, divers, sailors and anyone who spends real time in salt water and wants something on their hand that came out of it.

SIZING
Choose your US ring size at checkout. If you are between sizes, take the larger one. If you are not sure, measure the inside diameter of a ring you already wear and message us before ordering. If you need a size outside the list, leave it in the personalization box.

CARE
Shell is softer than metal and does not like chemicals. Take the ring off before the pool, the shower and the gym. Keep it away from perfume, sunscreen and aftershave, wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wear, and store it dry and out of direct sun. Plated wire wears over time with heavy daily use.
